Finding the right therapist

The client-therapist relationship is essentially a connection between two people, who may or may not be the right fit for each other.

As someone who has experienced both sides of the therapist’s office, I understand the struggle that may come with finding a therapist we feel comfortable with and whose values are in line with ours. This seemingly continuous search for the ‘right’ therapist can be a discouraging experience for some and I would be honoured to be a part of this exploration with you.

Who am I?

Having lived in 5 distinct parts of the world, I understand the multifaceted experience of being an expat, an immigrant, and a person of colour in a consistently heteronormative and capitalist society.  This has allowed me to reflect on who I am through a multitude of lenses. These experiences, collectively, shape my outlook on mental health services and my own personal approach.

My Approach

My approach is integrative, I draw from psychodynamic and existential psychology, with client centered therapy being at the core. I believe that no single therapeutic approach works for everyone, and so each client receives a uniquely catered approach that reflects their individual needs, experiences, and current situation, with the intersectionality of one’s gender identity/expression, sexual preferences, race, and ethnicity taken into account during our time together.
